Last updated: 26 June 2026
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Step Challenge mobile application, the web registration form, and related services (together, the "Service") provided by JITO Chennai ("JITO Chennai", "we", "us", or "our").
By registering for, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. About us

- Point of contact: Mr. Rajesh Shah
- Email: chennaichapter@jito.org

3. The competition
The Service operates a steps-based fitness competition (the "Competition") in which registered participants track their daily steps, compete individually and as teams, and earn medals for crossing a configurable daily step target. The team with the maximum number of medals over the Competition period is declared the winner.
- Competition period: 1 July 2026 to 15 August 2026 (or such other dates as notified by JITO Chennai).
- JITO Chennai reserves the right to modify the Competition period, rules, daily step target, scoring, and prizes at any time, with reasonable notice where practical.
4. Eligibility
- You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
- Participation may be limited to members who meet the eligibility (including Jainism) criteria set by JITO Chennai.
- Where you are not a verified JITO or JBN member, JITO Chennai may require additional verification, including upload of an Aadhaar image, before confirming your participation (see our Privacy Policy).
- If a participant is found to be non-compliant with eligibility criteria after joining, JITO Chennai may deactivate the participant, in which case the participant's records and their contribution to the assigned team will be removed, and the participant may be prevented from re-registering.
5. Registration, login, and accounts
- You register through the web registration form or the App by providing your name, mobile number, and email, and selecting or being assigned a team.
- Login to the App is via your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP).
- You are responsible for keeping access to your mobile number and account secure. You must not share your access or impersonate another person.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.
6. Registration fee
- Participation requires payment of a one-time, non-refundable registration / participation fee, collected in-app through our payment gateway, Razorpay.
- The fee, payment terms, refund, and cancellation terms are set out in our Refund Policy and Cancellation Policy.
7. Team assignment
- If you belong to a referral group, you will be assigned to a team automatically, and this assignment cannot be changed by you.
- If you do not belong to a referral group, you may choose one of the available teams or opt for random allocation, in which case the system assigns you to a team to keep team sizes balanced.
8. Step tracking and fairness
- Steps are read from your device through Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Android Health Connect (Android), and require you to grant health permission and to open the App periodically (preferably daily) so your steps sync to our servers.
- Guaranteed real-time tracking without any participant action is not technically possible on mobile devices. Official standings are finalised after a short sync window before each cut-off.
- All rankings are computed on our servers. The App does not submit its own rank.
- Where the platform allows, manually entered steps are excluded, and the data source is recorded with each entry.
- Prohibited conduct: You must not manipulate, spoof, or artificially inflate your step counts (for example by mechanical shaking, attaching your device to a moving object, or using step-spoofing applications). JITO Chennai may use anomaly detection and, at its sole discretion, disqualify or deactivate any participant suspected of manipulation. Decisions of JITO Chennai in this regard are final.
9. Medals and winner determination
- A medal is awarded to a participant (and credited to their team) on crossing the daily step target. The target value is configurable and may be changed by the organisers during the Competition.
- Unless otherwise notified, a change to the target applies going forward from the time of the change. The target value in force at the time each medal was awarded is retained for audit.
- The team with the maximum number of medals earned over the Competition is the winner. JITO Chennai's determination of standings and the winner is final.
10. Prizes
Any prizes, their nature, and the manner of their award are determined by JITO Chennai and notified separately. JITO Chennai may vary or withdraw prizes at its discretion.
11. User-generated content (activity feed)
- The Service may include a shared activity feed where users and administrators can post, and where users can view, like, and comment.
- You are solely responsible for content you post. You must not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, infringing, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
- JITO Chennai may remove any content and may suspend or deactivate any user who violates these Terms, at its sole discretion and without notice.
- By posting content, you grant JITO Chennai a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content within the Service for the purpose of operating the Competition.
The Service may allow you to reach other members via call, WhatsApp, or email. Your contact details are shared with other members only in accordance with your consent and privacy settings. You must use these features only for purposes related to the Competition and not for unsolicited marketing or harassment.
The Service may display sponsor banners and related content managed by JITO Chennai. Inclusion of sponsor content does not imply endorsement by JITO Chennai of any sponsor's products or services.
